Another Gaming / Violence Article

Kotaku points to another violent gaming article by the U.K. Times.

The article is pretty much "new studies" this and "correlated" that, but I was most interested in the new meat. Points and titles I'd never seen before in an article like this.

1) They point out that desensitized gamers usually dole out more punishment to NPCs.
- Because we know it's a computer game? Because we know that people get killed in real life? We watch Law & Order? We too want to enter the military and are just practicing for their video game training?

2) The most violent games noted by the US Family Media Group include Resident Evil 4 and God of War.
- Right. Zombies (excuse me...infected) and mythological Gods' minions. I can see those real life headlines now.

So here are my rebuttal questions.

Why aren't we tracking the violence and immoral values in accepted forms of activities (football, basketball, hunting). Are the too acceptable for someone to go against the grain? Maybe the scientist should play Resident Evil 4 and realize that one person can make a difference in the world.

More kids are killed by just seeing their parents guns around the house and being curious. Maybe a video game would teach them that their no joke and people will die. Ashley died many times under my watch. I didn't need to see someone get shot to learn that horrible lesson.
