Rednecky Nerd or Nerdy Redneck?
I can’t help it. I will complete a game or get bored with one and where do I end up? EA’s NASCAR series. The newest edition “Total Team Control” has taken care of the few issues that I had with previous editions. But it created a problem when they went for there team control concept. The team control is a great thing for communicating with your teammates. But controlling your other teammates cars make the racing a little too easy, the only game play flaw I have found. The new physics engine to has created a more realistic feel of racing. In previous editions if you didn’t run at the bottom around the corner, you were passed. But now you can keep and create momentum by running different lines. And the favorite of all NASCAR fans is the wreck, or “The Big One” as true fans would call it. I learned that a good wreck can come out of no where and surprise you. And sometimes if you can line them up just right, you can send them flipping through the air like an Olympic high diver. Last year it took all you had to turn a guy around let alone make him go airborne. The biggest flaws in the game are not in the actual racing, thank god. One is the replay is the worst system for any sports/racing game all-time. It will produce two and only two, even if you are that dumb Billy Bob (like me) that would actually race an entire five hundred mile race. So you have three perfectly well spent hours of your life trying to complete a true event, and all you have to show for it is two ten second clips that the game chooses for you. Now the second replay always is you crossing the line at the end. And the first is something big that happened in the event (randomly selected). If your lucky it was that time you sent that crybaby Jimmie Johnson up into the wall and collected many more behind him. But for us really lucky ones it will choose a time you came into the pits because (ohh no) I just lost a lot of positions (well duh). I don’t really consider that something for a highlight reel. The last issue I have with it is the lack of team options you have between races or seasons even (yes, I have completed numerous seasons, how else am I supposed to get the big ride?). So, for a fan of the sport it has the ultimate replay value with great graphics and even team speak with a headset. A must own for any redn…. NASCAR fan. And no, I do not have any of those fishing or hunting games.
