K-Mart Sale: Killer 7

Sunday, Nicole and I went out and weren't able to find much in the gigantic half off sale. The sales guy did tell us that he had just gotten the list a few days ago, so some "older" titles might as well be on the list. The few games that were setting on the counter were the old stand-bys, except for Killer 7. I'd never seen that in a sale bin before. So, $10.00 sounded like a good investment on an 8.1 IGN scale game.

I've spent about a half an hour with it and so far I'm going to say that it's an eccentric peice that has good potential. Multiple "personas" with weapons and abilities, rail walking with "junction" points to choose paths, and great animation and comic book coloring. It's sort of a cross between Resident Evil and Zork (yeah, a text game, just with no typing). The controls are super unconventional, something I really don't mind. Walking with the A-button is kind of like driving a car.

I don't know if I'd say I made it to the first boss or not, but's the first character in the game you're supposed to kill. I haven't figured it out yet. She runs away and hides, turning into an egg dropping monster that I haven't figured out how to damage yet. Her zombies (the Goombas of Killer 7) all carry bombs for sweet spot targets, which aren't that easy to hit. Once I've killed enough to trigger the special shot from one persona, I have no idea where to place it or even if I'm close enough distance wise.

But that's all I'm going to play with this game until Metroid Prime 2 is done. I've gotten one of the last weapons so my door possibilities have just reopened the entire world. I've got lots of walking to do.
