Knights of the Broke Republic
It was a toss up between spending $10.00 on Knights of the Old Republic or Fable. Having bought when it came out and feeling not so good about spending fifty dollars on it, I thought it may be a good chance to play it again and feel good about my money spent.
But I asked the two guys which one they liked better. KOTOR was intriguing to me, and they both agreed that it was a better game.
Yet, here I sit, having taken the game back once already because I couldn't save the game after going through all the character generation and attribute points spending. Here I sit, with a new copy of the game, not used, and sitting in front of a black screen during a load time.
It almost doesn't really seem like my kind of game anyway. The fighting is all done by statistics and behind the screens dice rolling. The graphics aren't that pretty to watch either. So when you put ugly graphics behind basically what is a choose-your-own-adventure, multiply that by three game freezes in an 30 minutes and you have yourself a bonafide drink coaster.
Going back to the store. Getting Fable. Another Star Wars flop in my book.
I miss you Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Even if you didn't win "over 40 Game of the Year Awards".
You should really give KOTOR another chance. Technical problems you are apparently having aside, if you can get it working it has a far better role playing expierence. Fable is fun, but the actual quest lacks a lot of depth. I could go into specifics but I don't want to post spoilers in anyway. Kotor is dice rolling, but it's fast paced and realtime (pausable to issue orders). Don't pause quick enough and you are also as good as dead.
ReplyDeleteTry finding patches for it. For the most part, my friends all got it working on their pc's just fine after standard patching and video card drivers. Personally, I played it on xbox, and it was fine.
Kotor also has a great story and fun characters, too. Both are fairly linear (kotor has worlds you visit in any order, but whats on each is linear. fable is just a big world of npc fun stuff with a REALLY linear story quest)
As for Fable, save up money, save, and buy as MUCH beer as you can hold (or 70 some should do it too). assign to a hotkey, and drink as much as you can, as quick as you can, distregarding any vomitting that may occur. let the hilarity ensue.
