PS3: Live In Your World, Just Be Poorer

With the recent news of the PS3 costing between $600-750, it's no wonder that PS lovers like Brian are getting upset. It's just another reason not to invest hard earned money into multimedia gaming systems that end up not performing to said specs.

I have no doubt in my mind that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 will sell well. As long as college boys sell enough plasma and drink other people's beer, there will be a long lineage for expensive toys. That's they're target market.

It's the outsides, the kids and the grownups with kids, that are going to be the hard sell. And I don't think inflation has anything to do with it. The Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo GameCube both sold for $199. The Revolution is expected to cost $250, though I bet they will suprise us with a price drop on that as well.

So you really have to ask yourself: do all the dvd playback and multimedia experiences add up to the cost? Do you need another DVD player? Do you ever stream movies through your computer? Do you even have a home network?

When I get an Xbox 360, it will only be because of Halo 3. Isn't that sad? Of course, it will also be for the games that I want that the manufacturers don't make available for the Nintendo. The ones you can get for either the PS3 or the 360.

If the launch price for the PS3 is anywhere close to the projected $600 low point, Sony will never see my money. I'll get it from the Valley Trader from some mom with 5 crappy, consecutively yeared basketball/football games for $300 that her son "rarely played".
