Wii May Wait

At $5 - 10 for an old NES, SNES, or N64 game to download on the new Wii
console, you'll never see me download a game for the following reasons: I
already own the orignal consoles, I can find the real game on eBay for the
same price, and most importantly, I know that once I own it I'll spend all
of 15 minutes on it before I post it up on my IGN games collection and
never touch it again.

So the Wii comes out on November 19th for $250. $50 for another
controller. $40 for two nuchuk controller acccessories. $50 for the first
game. $390 for the newest Nintendo experience. I'm not to happy from an
upfront price standpoint. I think I'm going to wait as long as I did for
the Xbox 360 and see how well this boat floats.

Nintendo's going to have to get the games out there before I plunge some
basement construction money into another console. I'm not getting
Zelda-cum-Wii for it. It was developed for the GameCube first. It does
come with a pack-in game (Wii Sports), but I don't see my interest getting
peaked until Metroid Corruption.

What the 360 had that Nintendo didn't was the fact that it was going to be
a replacement DVD player (soon-to-be-HDDVD). There were no games for the
360 that are interesting enough for me to even recommend that you buy it
(still aren't, Perfect Dark was iffy and LEGO Star Wars is also on the
original Xbox). Nintendo isn't packing enough junk in the trunk for me to
pay the same price for less. I don't care about news channels and Wii
avatars and transferring them around with the controller. The only game I
ever did that with on the N64 was NBA Jam.

I want to love the Wii. I want to get the fun games and actually play
"games" again. I miss the simpler times. So hopefully it won't be too much
longer after Christmas before I purchase it.
