Revisit: Need for Speed Underground 2

There are some games you just forget why you sold them in the first place. Time, my friend, does not make these games any better.

I though picking up NFS:U2 over a year later would change my outlook on the game. I never liked having to drive around the map, the incompetent A.I. (oh right, their just "dirty" racers), the heavy structuring and awful physics.

I was probably one of the few that didn't mind the complete lack of a map world in the first game. The map gives you the feeling that you have freedom of choice, like you could just do drag races and build up an awesome stage 3 drag racer without having to do circuit, sprint or URL races. Fitting a map into what is basically still a tiered accomplishment racer is really just bull.

I honestly think I wouldn't complain about any of the game if you could warp around the map to predetermined points around the map, but then you loose a good half the reason it's their in the first place. The other reason being the always slightly equal free racers running around in the streets (oh how I wish it was more like Tokyo Xtreme).

My last complaint is about the drag racing. I'm sure it's gotten the most flak for difficulty in getting the perfect shift off the line. The thumbstick is just way to sensitive to be a really good gas pedal for holding rpms.

So I'm probably going to go back to the first game and completely start from scratch. I liked just being able to pick a style of race and just do it and complete them all before moving to the next set of races. It's to the point and doesn't mess around. No filler. Just fun racing.
