Explanation to “The #1 Worst Top 10 List of All Time” post
I never claimed to be a writer with great grammar. I am just a guy with gaming as a hobby and real life gets in the way.
Okay, so on to my “The #1 Worst Top 10 List of All Time” post. I enjoyed the fanboyisms going on in the article I linked in the previous post. Could he have been a Nintendo fan? To put my opinion to the test, I am going to show you some cancelled games that didn’t make the list (and a console).
How bad can Nintendo miss the bus? How about helping another big company create the biggest jump in gaming since the NES. That’s right Nintendo wanted to put their games on CDs. So who did they turn to, Sony? Nintendo approached Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on, tentatively titled the "SNES-CD". Hiroshi Yamauchi cancelled the project due to a contractual disagreement and signed with Philips to create the “SNES-CD”. The Philips project was eventually canned, and Nintendo spent their time trying to sue Sony for continuing with the project on their own.
Good job Nintendo, pass on the CD market and let Sony and later Microsoft into a market that you were the juggernaught.
Since I gave Sony that soft and mushy feeling for pulling one over on the Goliath of gaming. Let’s throw one in their face.
Hindsight is always 20/20, and if Sony’s foresight was 20/20 they would not have allowed Microsoft to have such a powerful product. Bungie originally approached Sony (because of the high frame rate of the PS2) for Halo. If Sony had the Halo series what would Microsoft have done.
All PC gamers of FPS military games knows of the Battlefield series. Microsoft passed on that project before it could get out of the gates. EA was looking to the XBOX for their online approach with the Microsoft couldn’t online accounts out of the gate. Sorry Microsoft, you gave away those millions.
Nintendo passed on Counterstrike, which was and is a big hit in the PC industry.
Let’s also include both Microsoft and Nintendo in what they both can’t agree on to get done. How about a Golden Eye remake? Rare is as pissed as can be that neither party can agree on development.
So, instead of complaining about what wasn’t made I wanted to point out the games and a console that were hits, which others passed on. There is an extensive list of games that never were on Wiki. Why should I spend my time talking about games that never were? Look at the list yourself, it’s pretty extensive.
PS, I love you John!

Only 4 on that list you linked were Nintendo developed titles.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they were chosen because unlike titles like the "original concept" Fallout 3 and "Thrill Kill", these Nintendo titles would have been revered as classics for years to come. I guess young gamers wouldn't understand the concept of "legacy", but it seems like a lot of people are just living in the now.
Why would you make an article on games that never were? To reminisce, and because he felt like doing it.
