A group of people in the Valley used the popular video game Guitar Hero to benefit those who are in need.

The Mercy House was hosting the event at the Valley Mall Saturday.

Pre-registration for the Guitar Hero competition was $15, and it was $20 dollars at the door.

The group says they don't rely on fundraising, but rather, they saw this as an opportunity to connect with a specific part of the community.

"We want to involve the youth. We have a lot of young folks in the house and we have a daycare center and things like that, and we see how much they want to be a part of the things going on around them, so we think it's important to involve these young folks and start habits for the future," says Adam Clark, with the Mercy House Board of Directors.

Mercy House says that by getting their name out there during these hard economic times, people will keep them in mind and help them out when times are better.
