Tattoo Game Existed, Aborted

Data East's answer to Mortal Kombat, was in fact, Tattoo Assassins. The main ingredient here was tattoo combatants whose tattoos could be brought to life through special moves and attack the opponent. The game never made it past programming and never saw the dank darkness of an arcade.

The history of the game is chronicled here by a would-be fan.

My favorite lines are from a programmer of the game...

The Indian character, for example, had an eagle on his chest; one of his many fatalities was his eagle tattoo would come off his chest and crap on the other character, who would melt away...Was it bad? Well, I've played worse fighting games out there... It was neat working on it, but I have since moved on to better game testing and designing opportunities.
Hard to imagine.

Tattoo Game?

With the Wii being all awesome for real motion gaming, and I being tattooed, would a game based on tattooing sell? Or be good?

This is the only one I could find online, so I'm not sure if that is any testament to the genre (Alternative Art? First-Person Inker?).

Tattoo Artist

Regardless of this sample, I think a full-fledged tattoo game, fleshed out with different guns, needles, and inks would be fantastic. Different customers would come into your shop and your score would be given based on how they thought you did and how fast you did it and how intricate the tattoo design was. Would you manage shop advertising by doing art? Get famous by inking the famous? Would your art be on the cover of Skin magazine? Would the goal of the game be to tattoo up George Bush?

I can't wait until we get our first tattooed congressmen / woman. A nice flam crawling up the side of his or her neck.

Ahh...I digress.

Anyways, this Flash game is going to rock PTG until it gets rolled off the front page. Rock on!

Also, here's a link to a great gallery of geek/gamer tattoos. Mostly work safe. Here's a good collection too.

8-Bit Ink

Found this sweet tattoo. If I were to get one...

Update: Okay, so this is totally my new tattoo. It's been two weeks now since I've gotten it and so far I'm still happy with it. All of the scabbing finally went away and last night I started putting lotion on it again and I woke up this morning with smeared d-pads all over our sheets and pillow cases. So I guess the skin hasn't totally healed up.
