Funny Gaming Videos

There has been a small rash of gaming-related netfilms coming out of the woodwork (network?) recently. They're all quite funny from a gamer's perspective:

Halo CSI: Click Here
Grand Theft DUI Click Here
Why Wiley Can't Beat MegaMan: Click Here
The Halo movie is a reference to a recorded video of an actual Halo 3 match where a player was killed by an explosion that sent an orange cone straight to his dome and killed him.

The GTA video is about all the hubbub about the drunk driving in GTA and how it encourages people to "practice" drunk driving and then go do it in their own cars. (Warning: real person consuming 9 shots of something).

The last one is a great comedy peice about Dr. Wiley from the Mega Man games and his real world struggles to create robots and levels to outwit the hero, Mega Man.

Their all really good pieces. And all of them came out this week (or were at least found).

A Sign of the Times (Parents Gaming)

I know my parent's have had my Wii for a couple of months now and that's pretty impressive. I think the Wii hearkens back to days of the Atari 2600, when gaming was one-button simple.

But Brian's mom (not the Brian on here) told him that she has played through two Splinter Cell games and has just bought Metal Gear Solid.

Whether she likes it or not, she's a gamer.

Someone Feel My Forehead

I just told my wife that "we don't need to spend our tax refund on a PS3."

Next thing you know I'll hate chocolate, beer, motorcycles and computers. OH MY GOD COMPUTERS!!!

1 Hour Review: Earth Defense Force 2017

So far, my favorite thing about this game is that I've been given access to a new weapon created in 2008. The current year is 2017. You see where the humor lay.

This game is the most pitiful game I've ever seen. It truly belongs on an Xbox or PS2. Or GameCube. Or a web browser. But for some reason, some really strange reason, getting access to big guns that never run out of ammo and shooting ants the size of tour buses is amusing in a Space Invaders meets 4th of July fireworks kind of way.

I look and saw that the game has 6 achievements: 1 for each difficulty level and one for collecting all the weapons. I've been playing for almost an hour and I'm halfway through the normal difficulty. It's a short, unimaginitive (all the levels are in the same city setting) and poorly programmed. But hell if it's not playable, loud, and mindless.

And that IS why we play games, right?

So I'm going to enjoy this $13 purchase for the time being.

CoD 4, payback

Campers. They are a funny bunch. They'll sit and sit through a 15 minute match to get 4 or 5 kills. They also get bitter when they are found, made fun of then taken out.

Last night I was playing CoD4, (as always). We were playing Headquarters on Showdown. There was a guy camping at the far end of a staircase, nailing people as they ran up. So a teammate and myself proceeded to sneak up the oposite stairway, walked up behind him with shotguns drawn. We drew it out, standing there with our barrells stuck to the helmet he was wearing. Counted to ten and simultaniously blew two holes in his head. Then when teabagged him.

His killcam must have been sweet.

He left the game.

So much fun.

Blame Halo 3 / Halloween!

Not that this...umm...applies to me or anything.

Blame Halo 3 - Watch more free videos

I have been playing a lot of games lately. Not that is anything new to most people who know me. But this fall and upcoming winter there are just a barrage of good games coming out. I even got Nicole hooked on Puzzle Quest. It's almost worth the price of a Nintendo DS itself.

We gearing up for Halloween, but in such lame fashion. Nicole is slammed at work with the Senior Manager's course and the Journal and I'm in such a rut at work, the only thing I want to do when I get home is nothing. But game.

So for the first time since I've known Nicole, I won't be alone during Halloween giving out candy to kids while the Cheat watches from his window perch. So we're going to have a horror movie night with a few friends and some good food. I was going to get a projector and watch movies outside, but the recent chill has scrapped those plans.

I might still get the projector though. The thought of 100" of Xbox 360 or Wii on a wall somewhere is pretty tempting. I'm also really looking forward to the Halloween make-over that Halo 3 is supposed to be getting Wednesday. Pumpkin armor? Headless Master Chief on a horse?

What are you doing for Halloween?

And Down on Planet Zebes...

Damn, those cats.

In addition, here is the Wikipedia article on one Nintendo's greatest franchises, Metroid.

Excuse Me Young Man?!?

I've heard this plenty of times from my mother.

Gamers around the world recognize this moment for taking the cake of "getting screwed" in a game.

Tattoo Game?

With the Wii being all awesome for real motion gaming, and I being tattooed, would a game based on tattooing sell? Or be good?

This is the only one I could find online, so I'm not sure if that is any testament to the genre (Alternative Art? First-Person Inker?).

Tattoo Artist

Powered by: MySpace Games

Regardless of this sample, I think a full-fledged tattoo game, fleshed out with different guns, needles, and inks would be fantastic. Different customers would come into your shop and your score would be given based on how they thought you did and how fast you did it and how intricate the tattoo design was. Would you manage shop advertising by doing art? Get famous by inking the famous? Would your art be on the cover of Skin magazine? Would the goal of the game be to tattoo up George Bush?

I can't wait until we get our first tattooed congressmen / woman. A nice flam crawling up the side of his or her neck.

Ahh...I digress.

Anyways, this Flash game is going to rock PTG until it gets rolled off the front page. Rock on!

Also, here's a link to a great gallery of geek/gamer tattoos. Mostly work safe. Here's a good collection too.

Senator Plays WoW

I have to admit hearing that a senator plays a maxed character in World of Warcraft is pretty interesting. It's also awe-inspiring. I don't have time to get involved in a game like that (mostly because of all the other games I play). So where does the man find the time to work and play?

Truly, a part time gamer of the highest respect.

If you read on in the comments I linked to, he comments back to some of the regulars. It's pretty funny.

Chore Wars

This is hilarious.

In the vein of World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, Chore Wars is the best way involve your kids (or husbands)...(or wives) into doing chores around the house or for special events.

Create a character (pick a picture), arm it with abilities (vacuuming, dusting, etc) and join a clan (Part Time Gamers!).

Then the clan master (me) will create new quests for your characters to go on and you gain experience points (XP) and maybe in-game cash and prizes (worthless?).

Obviously I would make my kids actually do the things before they could play online, which I'm assuming is the point. Otherwise it's just hitting a button and hope your percentages work out. But I would then make them hit each other with wooden spoons a number of times based on their experience points from the online game. That would be fun.

I'll make Nicole join. That should still work.

Ring of Fire

In case no one knows, I'm on my THIRD Xbox 360. When the thing breaks, lights around the power on button turn red and flash, creating the dreaded red lights of death.

Joystiq posted up about song remixed by a gamer, Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, a very fitting tribute to one of Microsoft's biggest, un-confirmed plague with their new console.
