Resident Evil 4 (GCN)
Resident Evil has been around the block. It knows the grocer on the corner and waves every day to Mrs. Johnson on the second floor, hangin' out the window, smoking cigs in all her blue haired glory.
I've never been to Resident Evil's side of town much.
I played a bit of RE 1 back in the day. I think I even made it upstairs in that creepy house. Resident Evil 2 faired a little better, with me getting through a lot of the police station. But, unfortunately I stopped playing and missed out on what is probably a terrific set of games.
Resident Evil 4 hit the GameCube and I gave it another shot. And boy did it get everything right: better controls. Well...sometimes that all it takes to ruin a game for some people (Ah-hem...Tomb Raider?). If this game had a better story, slight better voice acting and cutscenes, we'd all be playing Eternal Darkness 2.
Resident Evil 4 is a very solid, heart pumping, adreno boost. Perfect graphics (even on my fine S-video tube tv), fantastic sound and great control. Had Mario Kart DS and Wi-Fi not shown up at the house mysteriously, I'd probably have 1) beaten it by now and 2) lost a little more hair in a shorter time.
Congrats Capcom, you finally won me over.
