Video Game Easter
So I've decided to do something a little out of the ordinary: I'm going to give my NES and SNES to my neices.
Well, temporarily anyways, and here's why...
When I was kid, I didn't know it really, but I had a thirst for electronic games. I knew very few people who had computers when I was 7-years-old: Brad from the school bus, JoJo from church, and my cousin Mike. It wasn't like it was something that I highly anticipated upon arrival at their houses, but once I saw those little grey boxes and those 32-64 color monitors, it was like I could tell it was staring at me. From, like, a far.
So in my karmaic type of guesture, I'm going to show my neices what playing games is all about. They are still a little young for Super Mario Brothers, but there is something deep inside me that when I see them playing Dora the Explorer, or some other educational type of junk, I know that their time could be more well spent on games that accomplish absolutely nothing at all.
Where for me there was Canyon Climber on Brad's Commodore and Bump and Jump on Mike's Macintosh, there will now be Super Mario Brothers and Double Dragon on Justin's NES in someone's life.
Well, at least you care enough about your nieces to be that person. It's sweet, in a strange way. But keep in mind: they're girls. So you should probably play some Zelda.
